Good post. As a Celtics fan, I too have a natural disposition to hate the Lakers. What really gets me is Shaq's style of play. I hate the banging thuggishness with which he plays. I would much rather see the grace of Hakeem, David Robinson, and now Yao Ming out of my big man. Shaq's foul-on-every-possession style is the antithesis of great basketball.
I have a harder time hating Kobe. He's a natural talent with charisma. He's got an ego, but anyone that good is going to have one (Larry Bird probably had one of the biggest egos of all time). I'd probably like Kobe if he were a Sixer or Celtic, or probably any other team except the Lakers or Knicks. But for now, he's a Showtime Laker prettyboy, so he must be distained. :)
